I have recently come across a campaign called Send My Friend To School.
It is run by the UK coalition of the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) & has members in over 100 countries around the world.
Send My Friend to School seeks to raise awareness for a child’s right to education.
“In 2000 over 180 countries signed up to a set of commitments for a better world to tackle issues such as hunger & poverty. These Millennium Development Goals included a goal of education for all by 2015.”
With less than 2 years to go until the end of 2015 there are said to be 60 million children who are still not receiving an education & it is predicted that 48 million of those will still be out of school by the end of 2015.
School’s in the UK are being encouraged to get involved with Send My Friend by writing to their MP or raising money & there are free teaching materials on their website.
